Ing. Dominika Tóthová, Ph.D. and Mgr. Marek Navrátil will spend the autumn of 2024 on a research visit and internship in Barcelona, where they will focus on their specializations and establish new collaborations.
Dominika is currently on a three-month research visit at the Universitat de Barcelona, School of Business, Department of Econometrics, Statistics and Applied Economics (Public Policies), where she is collaborating with Laia Maynou, an expert in Applied Economics and Econometrics, on research on children's exposure to air pollution. This research connects health economics to public policy and aims to enhance a better understanding of environmental and socio-economic influences on children's health. This research visit aims to establish collaboration with experts at the Universitat de Barcelona in the field of Health Economics and publish a joint manuscript.
Marek, a Ph.D. student at the Department of Public Economics and a member of the HEPII Institute, is in Barcelona for a doctoral internship at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he is cooperating with and gathering insights from a group that includes psychologists, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists under the supervision of Dr. Esperanza Luisa Gómez Durán. Marek is working on the evaluation of results from a waitlist-control online chat therapy study within the STOP CSAM project and preparing a cost-effectiveness analysis of the intervention. In addition, he is also working on other elements of his dissertation thesis at the intersection of public health and health economics.
Both researchers are using their stays to establish new contacts and collaborations that will contribute to developing their expertise and, no less, to developing research projects within our HEPII Institute as well.
