Malignant tumors today represent a serious challenge for healthcare systems worldwide – in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, they account for more than 20% of all deaths, thereby significantly contributing to the overall burden of disease and influencing both public health and healthcare costs.The excursion provided students with valuable context for understanding the connection between biomedical research, pharmaceutical production, and public health protection, especially in light of the current discussions on the importance of national and international pharmaceutical manufacturing capacity.
