For a Healthier Future: Innovation, Education and Cooperation in Healthcare

HEPII is a research institute of Masaryk University that works closely with other departments and faculties of the university, as well as with other universities, research organisations and partners from the commercial and non-profit sector. It connects economists with experts from different disciplines to jointly address current challenges and problems in the healthcare sector.

Strategic partners

Pharm-In has been a strategic partner of our research institute since 2024.

Pharm-In was established in 2008 and was the first company to provide comprehensive services in the field of Market Access medical technologies in Slovakia. It provides all activities required by the current legislation in the field of drug policy. The team includes professionals with many years of experience and expertise in various areas required by Market Access work (epidemiology, HTA, mathematics, biostatistics, IT, data mining, etc.).

Our strategic partners support HEPII activities and participate in selected projects and activities, such as:

  • formal partnership with the Faculty of Economics and Administration (and the benefits thereof),
  • activities related to teaching (lectures, workshops, excursions, student project consultations),
  • events for students that contribute to enriching student life and broadening interest in health economics, policy and innovation,
  • providing internships for students,
  • joint events and CSR activities,
  • and many others.

Partners for research and teaching

In January 2024, in collaboration with the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB) of the CAS and the Centre for Economic Research and Doctoral Studies (CERGE-EI) of Charles University and the Institute of National Economy of the CAS, we created the Interdisciplinary Platform for Biomedical and Economic Research (IBER). The aim is to promote scientific collaboration, communication with the professional and lay public and support public debate on interdisciplinary issues. The coordinator of the platform is the director of HEPII, Jakub Hlávka.

Research and teaching partners are involved in selected activities, such as:

  • development of a new degree programme Applied Health Economics,
  • offering internships for students,
  • preparing future research projects,
  • professional seminars and academic meetings.

The Krsek Foundation – The foundation focuses on projects in the areas of education, science, culture, and access to information. It supports nonprofit and innovative initiatives that have a positive impact on society.

Jan Barta – A Czech investor and philanthropist who actively supports initiatives and organizations aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of public administration to benefit Czech society as a whole.

Roche – Roche is a biotechnology company that develops original pharmaceuticals and provides solutions in in vitro diagnostics. It focuses on oncology, ophthalmology, central nervous system disorders, infectious diseases, immunology, and diabetes treatment. Roche also supports innovation and education in the Czech Republic.

Nadácia Zrak – A foundation established in Bratislava in 2002, it supports science, education, public health and prevention, and carries out socially beneficial projects.

Academic network

We cooperate with several faculties of Masaryk University in providing teaching of the Master's degree programme Applied Health Economics.
