In June, Jakub Hlávka and Dagmar Špalková visited the University of Copenhagen, where they met with Professor Karsten Vrangbæk, Director of the Centre for Health Economics and Policy (CHEP), and Anja Maria Jensen to explore opportunities for international research collaboration between CHEP and the Health Economics, Policy and Innovation Institute (HEPII). Discussions focused not only on potential joint research projects in the field of health policy and economics, but also on internship opportunities for students of the Applied Health Economics (AHE) programme at CHEP.

The following day, a series of meetings took place at the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Copenhagen. The meetings were led by Marieke Verschuuren, Senior Officer for Data Monitoring and Analysis from the Division of Country Health Policies and Systems. Other participants included Marge Reinap, Stephen Whiting, Olga Zhiteneva, and other WHO experts. Jakub Hlávka and Dagmar Špalková presented HEPII’s activities, ongoing research topics, and discussed the potential for involvement in international projects focused on strengthening health systems. A key part of the agenda was a discussion on internship opportunities for AHE students at the WHO Regional Office in Copenhagen.

This visit marks another important step in expanding HEPII’s international collaboration, strengthening research partnerships, and supporting the professional development of our students in both the European and global context.
