Researchers Dagmar Špalková and Dominika Tóthová from the Health Economics, Policy and Innovation Institute (HEPII) at ECON MUNI contributed to the preparation of the new Healthy Region Strategy 2026–2030 for the South Moravian Region. The strategy was developed jointly by the South Moravian Regional Authority, JINAG, and two institutes at ECON MUNI: the Institute of Public Administration and HEPII.
The strategy evaluates the implementation of the Healthy Region initiative and its action plans for the 2020–2025 period and defines priorities for the next five years. It connects health and social care with prevention, community development, public participation, and sustainable development. Its preparation drew on available data, existing regional and national strategies, a survey of municipalities, and discussions with experts and other stakeholders across the region.
Among its proposals in health and social care are the further development of community and outreach services, support for informal caregivers and home-based care, including home palliative care. The strategy also supports greater use of eHealth and assistive technologies and the development of mental health services, including multidisciplinary teams and community-based care. Its prevention agenda includes health literacy, healthy lifestyles, mental health promotion, and the prevention of risky behaviours.
HEPII’s involvement reflects our broader effort to connect academic research with practical health and public policy. Regional policymaking provides an important setting in which data and analytical methods can be translated relatively directly into concrete interventions, while their implementation can be monitored and their outcomes gradually evaluated.
