The Faculty of Economics and Administration at Masaryk University is launching a lifelong learning course entitled ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Healthcare’. The course focuses on how digital technologies, artificial intelligence and new business models are transforming the way healthcare is delivered.
The course explores how entrepreneurship and innovation are transforming the healthcare sector. It examines the role of competition and collaboration between different market players, how healthcare start-up incubators and accelerators operate, and how licensing differs from open-source models.
Part of the course focuses on digital technologies: big data, smart devices and artificial intelligence in medicine, electronic health records, telemedicine and remote care provision. The course also covers new models of healthcare financing, the mobility of healthcare professionals, medical tourism, and the legal, regulatory and ethical issues associated with new business models in healthcare.
The course is taught in English (recommended level B2) and is primarily intended for practitioners interested in entrepreneurship and innovation in healthcare. Participants work on individual and group projects, which they present at the end of the course. Upon successful completion, they will receive a micro-certificate.
Organisation and teaching format:
Researchers from the Health Economics, Policy and Innovation Institute (HEPII) at ECON MUNI contributed to the preparation of the new Healthy Region Strategy 2026–2030 for the South Moravian Region. The strategy was developed jointly by the South Moravian Regional Authority, JINAG, the Institute of Public Administration, and HEPII ECON MUNI.
